We: At Risk

EC Poetry & Prose Member

No matter how many

            toothy words

                        you rip out

of governmental manuals

            all the risks

                        will remain

& you know down

            deep

            what we mean by this.

If you forbid words

            or deny their truth

                        or redefine them

to rationalize evil intended

            or already underway

                        you will eventually

learn all such elisions and lies

            last only as long

            as your power.

All the true risks shoved aside

by your brutalist architecture of lies

                        will always grow

almost as fast as the profits

            of the private dungeons.

                        Through ruins & camps

people still find a path to love & joy &

            laughs even when good luck

is outlawed by a criminal regime.

All the words deployed in your armies of lies

            soon turn their coats &

                        testify, in secret, against you.

All the words suppressed at the corrupt behest

            of so many propagandists

will one pure day rise up

& manifest lost truths of all flavors & colors.

Until all that remains of your hideous name

            mocks truth no longer.
